IGNACIO MONTOYA IS REWRITING WHAT'S POSSIBLE.
Meet our chief scientific officer
A former Air Force fighter-pilot candidate, biomedical engineer, and paralysis survivor, Ignacio leads HINRI's scientific direction - bringing the perspective of both researcher and participant to every question we ask.
After a 2012 spinal cord injury left him with a diagnosis of <1% chance of regaining function, Ignacio spent over a decade at UCLA's leading neurorehabilitation lab combining spinal stimulation, exoskeleton training, and daily weight-bearing rehab. He is now a Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech, applying Al to the terabytes of clinical data his own recovery has produced – building a training protocol others can follow. His own injury is no longer classified as complete.
